My bachelor degree is in natural history conservation, predominantly focussing on the care and conservation of zoological, botanical and geological specimens, but my master’s degree is focused on preventive conservation. I have specialised in moving collections, all kinds and sizes from sensitive botany specimens to taxidermy, mice as well as moose, I even moved a few dozen canons at one time. I have worked with moving collections since 2012, and have come to understand the many challenges and conservation issues associated with relocating large volumes of museum objects. Keeping the collection safe, stable and pest free, while taking care that no information is lost, or objects for that matter, can be both difficult and a crazy adventure at the same time. I am very passionate about museum collections, both cultural and natural heritage, and though my first love will probably always be natural history collections, I have come to feel a similar enthusiasm for cultural history collections as well. I have held thousands of museum objects and specimens in my hands, and if I’ve learned anything it is, that the way we handle our collections is paramount to the life expectancy of these collections.
